Kamchatka is open for ski-touring up to early May, late March–April being the best in terms of weather and safest in terms of avalanche risk. In early May it can be slushy and muddy in the southern parts at lower altitudes, but very good high in Klyuchevskoi Group.

The winter snow does not come off the higher parts of the tundra until late June. So treks to volcanoes are feasible from July to late September. But even in early July you will probably have to cross patches of snow (not large though) even at lower altitudes, and at the end of September conditions can be rather harsh again when climbing higher volcanoes.

Last but not least: mosquitoes. At altitudes lower than 1500–1700 m in late June and the best part of July a mosquito net in your tent and a head-net are a must, as well as many bottles of a good repellent if you want to walk in shorts and short sleeves.
