Ages and ages ago, in Silk Road's golden age, caravans of merchants never missed this town, the only oasis surrounded by vast expanses of the Kyzyl Kum Desert.

Bukhara is famous for its madrasahs and mosques, monuments and squares. Breathtaking Asian architecture combined with narrow medieval lanes in the old town, bustling Asian bazaar retaining the ancient Asian atmosphere. The major sight of the town is Arch, wooden fortress, was a home for emirs, the leaders of Persian Empire.

The majority of town population speaks Tajik. It’s a medium town with 250 thousand inhabitants. The center of one of the regions of Uzbekistan. Many famous philosophers and ancient scientists lived here, as well philosopher Avicenna and poets Rudaki and Ferdousi.

The historic center of Bukhara is one of the World Heritage Sites announced by UNESCO.
