Bukhara Khiva Samarkand Tashkent Tours
Tashkent is the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan with over two million inhabitants. It has the Underground, the only one in Central Asia. The architectural heritage is almost lost during the strong earthquake in 1966. Now it has got modern soviet architecture, wide tree-lined streets and some of historical heritage, many historical museums, including those about the Silk Road.
Tashkent is scientific, cultural and educational center of Uzbekistan, being the largest city of the republic. It lies in the eastern part of the country, close by the border with Kazakhstan and has got an international airport.
Tashkent means “stone fortress” in Uzbek language. And near Tashkent is grave of Tamerlane.
Nowadays it still remains the atmosphere of medieval times. Oriental merchants in the bustling bazaar will offer you some handicraft, oriental carpets, a lot of eastern sweets and fruits. And it’s supposed everyone will bargain.
