With its varied landscape, from hot sand of deserts to eternal snow capped peaks and glaciers, Kazakhstan is home for many type of wildlife: 158 species of mammals, 485 reptiles, 12 amphibians and 23 birds are registered in the Red Book of rare animals.

Herds of Jeirans (Black-tailed gazelle) and Kulans (Onager or Asiatic Ass) graze the steppes. Giant lizards and spiders, jerboas and snakes are native to the steppes and deserts of Central Asia. Snow Leopards and Mountain Goats live in mountains in the neighborhood to the Grey Partridge.

It’s possible to see such species as Ibisbill, Relict Gull, Himalayan Snowcock, Sociable Lapwing, Eversmann\'s Dove, Black Lark, White-winged Lark and Himalayan Rubythroat, along with hordes of Rosy Starlings, which it’s hard to find anywhere else.

Kazakhstan’s nature is unique for birders, lovers of wild life and keen travelers. It is also rich in minerals, irons and basic metals, and Kazakhstan is of interest for geological tours as well.
